| Description: To determine the effects of CAD on the levels of circulating miRNAs, we performed miRNA profile analysis by deep sequencing using RNA isolated from 20 patients with CAD and 20 healthy controls. Two hundred ninety-six miRNAs were detected in the plasma of healthy individuals and 196 in patients with CAD. Among all the miRNAs detected, 173 miRNAs were found in both groups, only 123 miRNAs were detected in healthy individuals, while only 23 miRNAs were detected in patients with CAD. The levels of circulating miRNA profoundly differed between patients and healthy controls, as demonstrated in the scatter (Figure ?(Figure1).1).
