Detail description:

HOTAIR ncRNA may regulate gene expression in HOX loci in cis or trans; alternatively, it may be the act of antisense transcription in the HOXC locus rather than the ncRNA itself that has a functional role in gene regulation. depletion of HOTAIR lead to dramatic transcriptional activation of the HOXD locus on chromosome 2 spanning over 40 Kb, including HOXD8, HOXD9, HOXD10, HOXD11, and multiple ncRNAs (Fig. 5a, b, Supplementary Fig. 7).
